Wellness & Spa Basic Criteria

The quality certificate of the European Audit Institute Wellness & SPA is an award not only for the wellness & Spa area but for the entire hotel with all its facilities. Sophisticated wellness guests expect an adequate ambience combined with guest-orientated service not only in the wellness area, but everywhere in the hotel. A wellness hotel / establishment provides a wide range of healthy F & B products (fresh, fully-fledged, delicious and if possible organic) and interesting offers in the fields of outside in the nature activities (outdoor) as well as cultural events within the house, as well as in the surrounding area.

Additional to international accepted quality standards like ISO 9000 / 2000 (or comparable) the basic criteria of the European Audit Institute Wellness & SPA are:

  • At least 4****-superior level of the hotel
  • Orientation of the hotel / establishment to ease and comfort seeking wellness guests
  • Attractive wellness facilities in size and equipment (proportionate to hotel size)
  • Special feel-good ambience in the entire wellness area
  • Highly trained staff standard
  • Daily and suffucient availability of wellness facilities and wellness treatments
  • Wide range and differentiated wellness offers without “ripp-off”
  • Quality adequate price / performance ratio

For successful certification in the categories Wellness & SPA, Medical SPA or Wellness & Golf & SPA the EAWS Wellness Quality Standard is required, combined with further specific criteria for each category.

  • Thalasso & SPA Europa Gütesiegel

The EPWS Wellness & SPA Basic Criteria:

  1. A fundamental and integrated wellness concept must exist throughout the entire hotel complex.
  2. The establishment as well as its environment offer a feel-good ambiance with extraordinary guest orientation and high service quality form check-in to check-out and beyond.
  3. Provable quality specialist qualification within the wellness area and beyond.
  4. Well structured variety of well-balanced healthy F & B products (fresh, fully-fledged, delicious, ideally organic food).
  5. Variety of wellness concepts and offers in the fields of exercise, relaxation, recreation, nutrition and/or health promoting actions and information for sustainable health in daily life.
  6. Optional nature experiences and/or cutural events available within the hotel and/or in the surrounding area.
  7. The wellness area and the conception within the hotel comply with modern standards of today´s wellness guests and offers high quality and up-to-date interior and equipment.
  8. The wellness area represents particular ease promotion but vigour stimulating ambience. This includes:
  9. Indoor-pool, sauna, steam-bath, fitness- und treatment rooms (in size and number adequate to hotel size); additional relaxation/recreation rooms or lounges with exeptional feel-good-ambience.
  10. The wellness area is daily available for all wellness guests for at least 10 hours.
  11. Additionally offered wellness and treatments should be available for the wellness guest in convenient number and at adequate price level.
  12. Wellness offers must be reasonable, transparent and at adequate price-performance level.
  13. No-smoking policy! Smoking only allowed in completely separated rooms! The wellness guest must not come in any contact with smoke at any time!

 

The inspection of more than 850 single criteria out of the sectors external presentation, front office, house-keeping, F & B, safety and wellness & sports identify in context of a certification audit a very detailled image of the quality of the checked establishment. All these specific single criteria are additionally differentiated and weighted by importance (1 – 5) and so arise to a sum of ca. 2.500 reachable maximum points (= 100 %).

The result of the certification will be produced after accurate analysis and it reaches a quotation of percentage compared to the optimum (2500 points = 100 %). This result will be graded by the EAWS with the following levels:

100 - 95 %Leading Spa Selection
94 - 90 %Premium Spa Selectio
89 - 80 %Quality Spa Selection
